MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu have a long history dating back to the vale tudo (no holds barred) fights that started in Brazil in the 1920′s under the heading of “The Gracie Challenge”. Essentially, the founders of modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu used these challenge matches to test and prove their system against other martial arts.
MMA has changed a lot but the spirit of competition for the sake of martial development remains the same.
At Santa Fe Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy, we have a small but growing MMA team that practices 3 to 5 days a week depending on upcoming competitions. Our training sessions are available for anyone to watch, and after commitment to regular classes, one is welcome to help us in our training and to eventually compete.
Gracie Barra Santa Fe has been producing winning fighters in the cage since 2001. Currently the academy’s overall MMA record stands at 77-14. Thats a winning percentage of 85%. In that time the team has accumulated 5 MMA World titles. The training regimen that the fighters go through is extremely thorough. So if you’re up to the challenge and are serious about pursuing an MMA career, looking to learn some skill sets that are utilized in MMA, or you just want to indulge and become more educated about the sport that you follow then our MMA group is for you.
